The Club philosophy is that training and games are presumed ON. If rain does impact training or games, you will be notified in accordance with our wet weather procedures:

Wet Weather Procedures | Training days

We have implemented Wet Weather procedures which aim to keep the process simple and clear.

When a storm warning is issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 4:30pm or later, which looks to affect our fields, the Club will cancel all training for the evening.

Unfortunately, this may result in the cancellation of training for ‘no reason’ should the storm not eventuate or move around us, but we, the Club have to make the call in an appropriate time-frame to ensure that all our players remain safe and avoid travelling to our fields in inclement weather.

If we have received no storm warning but heavy rain is falling or the fields are soaked from a previous rain event we may also decide to cancel training.  Again, we will do this as early as possible using the BOM radar information as a guide if necessary.

Notifications

Notifications of any training cancellations will be posted on our FACEBOOK PAGE, as soon as we are able.

Please ensure that YOU – as Coach, as an EO, as Parent or as Player – visit our Facebook page and/or your Team App (if used) before all training sessions to ensure that training is taking place but especially when the skies darken or rain is falling.

Please do NOT call our Wet Weather contact directly.

Late Cancellation

Sometimes, a BOM warning is issued 30 minutes or less before a training session.  In this event, we will still follow the protocol above. However, a Club Representative will also call the Coaches directly advising them of the late cancellation to ensure the message is filtered down to the EOs who can notify parents/players if necessary.

HOME GAMES

Coaches/EOs will be notified directly of game cancellations by our Club Wet Weather contact. They will then in turn notify their affected team.

Please assume all games are ON, unless and until you receive notification otherwise. Confirmation of any HOME game cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page, as soon as we are able.

Please ensure that YOU – as Coach, as Manager, as Parent or as Player – are aware of your team communications processes before all games.

Please do NOT call our Wet Weather contact directly.

AWAY GAMES

Coaches/EOs will be notified directly of game cancellations by our Club Wet Weather contact. They will then in turn notify their affected team.

Confirmation of any AWAY game cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page, as we become aware of them.

Please ensure that YOU – as Coach, as Manager, as Parent or as Player – are aware of your team communications processes before all games.

Why do we close our fields?

We love playing baseball and love seeing our Carina teams out training and playing. However, from time to time, we do have to make the decision to close the fields for player safety and to minimise field damage.

Typically, our Main Diamond at the Clem Jones centre will be more rain affected than our Preston Road fields. It is quite possible that even if the Main Diamond is closed, Preston Road will be playable.
